Why This Story Matters Beyond the Pages
Call Me Brave and the Rise of the Vanguards series were written to help kids grow in courage, character, and leadership.
But for some kids, courage isn’t just about standing up to a bully or finding your voice.
For many foster youth, courage is about surviving uncertainty, loss, and instability—often alone.
That’s why the authors and the Vanguards proudly support ISF. www.isfsite.org
Who ISF Serves
Every year, tens of thousands of young people age out of foster care with:
- No family safety net
- Limited financial support
- High risk of homelessness, incarceration, and hopelessness
ISF exists to change that trajectory.
ISF helps foster youth pursue college or trade training—providing:
- Financial aid for education
- Mentorship and encouragement
- Leadership development
- Life-changing leadership retreats and cross-cultural mission experiences
Since 2006, ISF has served over 200 students, with the majority completing their education and building productive, meaningful lives.
Why the Vanguards Support ISF
The Vanguards are fictional characters—but the challenges they face are real.
Friendship. Identity. Belonging. Courage. These are the same struggles foster youth face every day—often without consistent adults in their corner.
Supporting ISF is not an add-on. It’s a natural extension of what these stories stand for.
Leadership means using your influence to lift others.
Our Commitment
10% of Vanguard royalties are donated to ISF to help foster youth pursuing a college education or trade training.
When you buy these books, you’re not just investing in a child’s imagination—you’re helping another young person build a future.
